To keep this pop up from showing in the future make sure the proximity sensor isn't blocked.

It's not. But I still get this message every time I wake my phone.
Does anyone know a fix?

Haven't had this happen but I have posted before about my screen turning on in my pocket (even after hitting lock button from call screen) while on calls using my Bluetooth ear piece. It would mute, hang up etc. One thing I found helped prevent pocket dialing was to get on the call and make sure to hit the home button before locking the phone.

by any chance do you have a screen protector blocking the sensor? another way to see if it's a sensor problem is by dialing *# 0 *# (put everything together, no spaces) and select sensor then place your finger over the sensor to see if it responds that way or if it does it on it's own. if nothing is blocking the sensor and it activates on it's own then it might be a sensor problem

hey thanks for the reply. I don't have a screen protector on the phone. the problem still exists. I think I'm going to try a wipe see if that clears it up. if not then I guess I'll have to trade it in for a new device.

Did you just get the S8? & did you do a backup from restore of any kind?

Steps to Prevent this problem.
Go to settings - Display - Scroll down to "Keep Screen Turned Off - and than turn it off.
