you know how the iPhone has that thing where you can capture a screen shot on the phone (say a text tread) and you can upload it to Facebook and stuff? is there a feature or app on android that can do that?

It's not something I've really looked into, but from what I've read, you have to be rooted on Android in order to use most, if not all, screen shot apps. Perhaps someone else who's more familiar with this topic can provide more/better info.

No Root Screenshot It is one of the few, and probably the best, screen shot apps for no root phones. I use it on my no root Dinc2 and it works fine.

But isn't that one those apps that you have to connect your phone to your computer for it to work?

I dont think any of the apps requires u to connect to the computer for it to work. It's just a simple screen shot and save as a JPEG or PNG depending on the app. Then, just upload to your favorite social site. I use Drocap2 for root users, as the name says you'd have to be roted for it to work. Altough there might be one available for non-rooted users. Just look for it in the market. Good luck.

"No root screenshot it" requires you to install Samsung drivers and hook your phone to your computer. Then you have to go to their website to download their program on your computer which interacts with your phone. Read the reviews. I haven't seen a single no root screenshot app that didn't require it. There is a reason why screenshot apps require root.

Yes I bought it installed it and found it was just easier to root the phone and not have to deal with the hassle.

Hi,

It looks like your are using the Samsung Epic. If you are, then you are in luck. "Screenshot It" from the android market will work on your phone, even though you are not rooted. You won't have to hook it up to your computer or anything like that.

I'm the developer of this application, so if you have any problems/issues, just shoot me an email and I'll be more than happy to assist.

You're wrong. I have an epic
as well as the nexus. Screenshot it did work with the epic on eclair (unrooted). But hasn't ever worked again unrooted since the update to froyo.

I have a Sprint Samsung Epic 4G myself and have been trying to figure out an easy way to take screen shots on it for a while now with rooting or connecting to a computer. All of a sudden the strangest thing happened just this past Saturday and I didn't notice it until today. There is a picture in my Gallery in my "Camera" folder of a screen shot/capture of my phone from this past Saturday at 11:32pm. I have absolutely NO IDEA whatsoever how I somehow did this or how it got there, but clearly it somehow happened. Now I just really wish I could figure it out. And now I do know it must be possible without being rooted or without any kind of an app. If anyone can, please advise!!!

-Thank You!

I just rooted 2 days ago, but before I did, I had this happen at least twice in the 8 months I owned the phone unrooted. There was suddenly a screenshot in my Camera folder. The first time, it was a screenshot with WeatherBug open - I thought maybe I had downloaded the picture accidentally from the market or something, But then it happened again a few months later. I researched but never figured out how it happened. I know this doesn't help, but at least we both know now that we aren't going crazy :)

Wow, it's crazy you say that. It was actually a screen shot of WeatherBug on my phone as well. The time on the WeatherBug screen of course matched the time the screen shot pic was taken per the "details." Obviously there is some way somehow to take screen shots with an unrooted Android (Epic 4G w/ slide-out keyboard). I just wish I could find it from Googling online!!!

Hi guys, sorry to jump in. Came across this thread while searching for something else...

I'm new at this and don't have the Epic but I've had two androids (unrooted) which are able to take screenshots. I've heard most phones can't but if u accidentally discovered it, then yours might. If u press the power and home button at same time, it should take a screenshot. try it again and see if it works :)

they should show up somewhere in the gallery - mine used to create a separate album called "captured images".

Hope that helps! :)

You actually took a screen capture by pressing in between the home button and back button at the bottom of your phone. by doing so you can do an easy capture with out downloading any apps. Hope this helps :)

Really!? There is nothing between the buttons, and pressing in between will either catch one or the other.
