So LSS - deleted the 2.2 multitouch keyboard to get the older 2.1 to install - it doesnt work quite right, the letters on the keys are way small. So I want to go back to 2.2, but it wont let me install it, and Ive tried to copy the latinime.apk to the system/app/ folder but that doesnt help
I tried installing it with supermanager, but that doesnt really do anything, and when i try installing it from "files" it says "Application not installed"

Someone with some keyboard expertise want to help me out pls
I would LOVE 2.1, but Ill settle with just getting 2.2 back on.

There is a 2.2 sbf file out now, along with RSD Lite 4.8

You can flash back to System version 2.3.13 using the sbf file.

but then i have to reinstall ALL my apps again? Would doing a boot loader backup / restore work - ive heard that its different and might not work right.

Ok, so I installed both the APK *and* Odex file this time, reboot, still nothing showing up -
im confused!
Is there something Im missing? Shouldnt having the apk and odex be enough, or does it need to be installed through the system? If so, how can I do that since when i do, it says "application not installed"

Can anyone check the other system folders for LatinIME.* for me? Just want to see if theres something im missing.

I deleted my whole keyboard once and could not type to change the latinIME name. Had to tex to myself from another phone copy and paste. After u put the new latinIme.apk file into system/app reboot your phone. Once its back on go back into system/app and click the latinIME file and install. When its done go into phone settings and then keyboard and select the keyboard. If its not showing back out and re enter and it should let u choose it. Hope that's what you need.

not sure how that would help, seems like that would just put me right back where i started after a lot of work.

Correct me if im wrong but isn't there a "Enable Root" Function in the settings of Super Manager, that let's you switch from read only to R/W

I use root explorer and yes you can go from r/o to r/w. You need that to edit files. What are you referring to in this post with that. Kinda lost.
