Android Central Question

When someone says scroll up or down are they meaning swipe your finger up or down or do they mean have the screen move up or down?

This has caused me a lot of consternation....for example - with an Android S5 in camera mode, tap the little gear wheel top left of screen.

You only get a half page of options UNLESS you swipe your finger up which moves the other options down...would you believe it took me several days to figure this out - duh 😎

Welcome to Android Central! When I say "scroll down," I mean to swipe the finger up so that you see what's lower on the screen. But I see what you're saying. It can be confusing as well about swiping left/right.

Yes, this is always a question of perspective based on the OS.

On your Android phone, you are using your finger to scroll the contents under the window. Move your finger up and the data moves in that direction.

On Windows, you are moving the mouse/arrows to scroll the window (viewport) over the data. Move the window and the data appears to move in the opposite direction.
