When I'm on a website why does the scrolling speed lag by a half second? Nexus 4 is my first android and I love it, but I'm coming from using iPhones for the last 4 years where there was no lag at all.

Because on ios when you touch the screen all the processes is working on that finger. But on android when you load a site and touch the screen it both renders the site and works on your finger at the same time. So if you notice on ios, go to a heavy site like facebook, then in middle of loading put your finger, you can see that everything stops loading and will not load so long as you have that finger on the screen. That's because everything is concentrating on that one finger, but for android its multitasking which probably makes it lag a bit.

But half a second shouldnt be an issue. you'll get used to it.

This is the biggest load of bull**** that has spread through out the smartphone community. I'm a multiplatform developer and iOS does not do anything like this out of the box. The developer of each app has to painstakingly implement such behaviour where ever it needs to be responsive.

The input latency you are talking about in this case is because the hardware is substandard. They use substandard touchscreen controllers which have massive input lag of even 300ms on some devices like the Galaxy Note series. The iPhone has less than 50ms touchscreen input latency.

I'm assuming you're using chrome. The mobile chrome browser is known to lag, and safari on iOS is a lot smoother. This lag is likely not due to android itself, but more so that chrome should really still be in a beta, and that it needs more optimization. You may want to try a different browser such as dolphin or Firefox. Do you see any lag anywhere else?

No he's talking about touch screen input latency (compounded with Chrome in this case). He will notice it compared to an iPhone.

I still think it has a lot to do with chrome as well. Change to something like dolphin

He is talking scroll lag, not touch sensitivity. He specifically said when scrolling on websites. That would mean to me he is talking poor rendering due to poor hardware acceleration. Android is not the best at this as is, especially when it comes to caching, and then there are many apps that don't have full acceleration coded in. The only time I see lag is with certain web apps.
