Hi, I'm currently a happy owner of a Redmi Note 5 pro 4/64 and a SD 636 chipset. I've been using it since 2018. Even with this low powered chip I've never really experienced major lag, I'm not much of a power user and I'm mostly satisfied with the camera results on this phone. Now since it's been long enough, I'm looking for an upgrade, I really like the new POCO M3 but I still have my doubts, as both the phones have just 4gb of ram and the M3 has a SD 662 chipset. Would this be enough of an upgrade performance wise that it'd last me another 3 years?

The 636 runs 4X1.8GHz CPUs, the 662 runs 4X2.0GHz. Not much difference in speed. The graphics chip in the M3 is faster, but if you don't game, that won't make much difference. The M3 comes in 128GB of storage (with UFS 2.2 storage) so that might make a difference to you. Otherwise, as long as you stick to the 600 series Snapdragon, all you'll see is minor changes from one generation to the next.
