SD Card Encryption even without an SD card inserted?

My S9 phone's internal storage is encrypted. However, I have enough internal storage space so I will not be using an external SD card. Do I still need to enable the SD storage encryption as well even if I will not be planning to use an SD card?

If there's no SD card, what would you be enabling? Encrypt the card that's not there? One has nothing to do with the other. (And encrypting the card, while it keeps anyone from reading the card if he gets his hands on it [which is highly unlikely] also prevents you from reading it if the phone or the motherboard has to be replaced. Part of the encryption key is based on the hardware.)

So if I have only the Internal encryption enabled which is also called Secure Startup, then that alone is sufficient enough without enabling SD Card encryption even if I don’t plan on inserting an SD card?
