SD Card Encryption

I just encrypted my SD card on my V10. I also use dropsync to keep all my pics and video synchronized to Dropbox. Everything had already been updated as far as synced but after encrypting the SD card, dropsync seems to be re-uploading all of my pics again. Are the pics that are being uploaded encrypted and unable to be viewed by any other device on the Web? I want to know if I made a mistake encrypting. If all pics are now being encrypted on my SD card and now being encrypted on Dropbox without being able to be viewed except on the phone I may have made a mistake. If I want to share pics or a folder and no one can view them I'll have to reverse what I've done. Your intelligent input would be helpful.

Only your phone can decrypt them, not even another V10. If you want to share things on the web, start with a cloud account that has a public folder (or on which you can make a public folder). Put the shared files (unencrypted in any way) there. (I use MEGA - 50GB for free, and just a right-click on the file to get the link to share. [Share the link with the key])

What I just did was I went on my MacBook and logged into Dropbox on the Web and viewed the folder with pictures it has re-uploaded since encrypting the SD card. It doesn't seem as if there was an effect. I was still able to view the pictures and downloaded a picture and was able to view it using picture viewer. Am I missing something? My mac isn't the phone decrypting pictures.

When your phone has access to the SD card, the apps on your phone have unencrypted access to the files on the card. So the Dropbox app can see the unencrypted versions, and dutifully upload them as normal.

Encrypting the card is about making the information on the card useless to people who don't have access to your phone, not about preventing the apps on your phone that you have given permission to access the card from accessing the card.

Thank you for clarifying that to me. Basically the uploads going to Dropbox are unencrypted which makes me wonder why every single picture I have on my phone is being re-uploaded again when they were already backed up? This didn't occur until I encrypted the card. It's acting as if they're new files.
