SD card going crazy.

I'm sorry if this has been talked about, but for some reason my SD card has been going crazy.

When I go to Astro file browser it will load up a directory, and it will never stop with the spinning circle on the bottom... then eventually (after an hour or maybe 3) the SD stops working. Can't take a picture, can't check out my pictures, it's just like it's unmounted.

I wish I could pinpoint exactly when the SD card problem happened. I think it was when I installed Google Gallery on my Baked Snack Rom.

Right now, I'm restoring to my Droid X Froyo version and see if keeps happening.



Also, on another note, should I install this upgrade that my evo keeps suggesting I upgrade to? It started coming up like 2 days ago. Will this break my root? Will this make it so I can't root again using the super easy method.

You can try formatting it, but make sure you back it up first.

If it's the 1.47 update, you can update but it will break your current root, but there are methods for rooting the upgrade.

Similiar trouble here. It didn't seem to happen to me until I rooted, but in a thread on XDA there are people who have never rooted having the same problem. One guy thinks it's an issue with the SD actually moving around in its socket and tried shoving some paper in it to hold it tight. Last night he was at 24 hours with no issues, but I haven't seen an update yet today. My issue just doesn't seem like a contact issue, but I suppose it could be.

I've tried formatting the SD using windows. Formatted using Clockwork. Did a full wipe with Amon-RA. Switched ROM's. So far nothing has solved it. I'm going to try going back to stock and hope that takes care of it. I don't hold out much hope though.

Well, I restored to my Droid X froyo and the issue was resolved.

Now I've flashed fresh, and it also doesn't have this problem.

I'm not quite sure why it happens like this. I had the problem out of the box on launch day (like everybody else), but after I rooted and flashed BuglessBeast v3, it went away. Then when I used Fresh .3 it came back, so I moved to BakedSnack where it went away until v7 so i flashed back to v6, now im on v9 and it's gone. I honestly can't figure out why it happens, so I typically just do a nandroid restore or try a different ROM as soon as it does.
