SD card help

I just got my thunderbolt after several hellish months of my blackberry storm having seizures. I am trying to copy the files (docs, music, pics, etc.) from my old 8GB SD card onto my thunderbolt but the actual phone only has 2GB of memory and my old SD card has 7GB. I've tried to click menu to get more options to copy or save as but no luck. I'm new to Droids but like it so far. Just need my files! Can anyone recommend how I can move my files to the new phone? Thanks.

did you buy the phone new or used?
new should have come with a 32GB card in addition to the 8GB(2GB usable) internal

The Thunderbolt comes with a 32GB SD card... not 2GB.

Copy them to your PC's harddrive, then to your new device... or connect both devices and connect them as drives and copy them over to your new Thunderbolt.
