SD card issue

I have a 8gb memory card in my phone at the moment and it shows I only have 2.4gb of space left. I am rooted and running vortex rom and have no music and about 150 pictures. Currently don't have any apps stored to my card either. The thing I don't get is what is taking up all my space on my SD card. Ive used root explorer to look thru and deleted a bunch of stuff but to no avail I still end up with the same memory. Any ideas?

Run your SD card on your computer to get a better look at it size wise and what "stuff" you actually have on there. See what dimensions your computer's OS gives you. Then you will know if the Media Scanner in your X is malfunctioning.

It shows I have 5.2gb for app storage under what it shows for total and free space. Is their any way to get that 5.2 to a lower number or even removed. And why is my SD card saving that much room foe apps.
