SD card question

I'm planning on getting a new SD card for my S3 because the current one I've gotten "corrupt " warnings on twice now so I'm pretty sure it's close to end of life. I don't wanna lose everything (mainly music) so I backed up to external hard drive. My question is this, can I buy any SD card out there or is there a card that may not work because the S3 can't handle it? I was thinking of getting this one. Samsung 32g Pro micro SDHC class 10. Some are reviewing it a bring too fast and "overkill" for the S5. I have a S3 still. Is it compatible with an S3? I know I'll be upgrading soon and would like a smooth transition to a new phone. I don't think it'll make a difference but thought I'd check first. Also, do the newer phone require more memory.. Should I get a larger capacity card (currently have a 16g & it's full of music) ? Thanks for the input in advance...

I use Sandisk 64g SDXC cards. Samsung are overpriced.
Sandisk rewrote the internal ROM code for the micro cards when problems plagued us.

Thank you so much! I just ordered a 64g SanDisk of Amazon for way cheaper than Samsung... Crossing fingers it works.

Don't format it. Just put it in the phone and use it.

Got the SD card today (Sunday delivery I was impressed) anyhow, should I load my music and things from the External hard drive first or put the SD card in my phone and load to it from the computer?

Either way works. Computer transfer is faster. Put the music in a MUSIC folder.

I did (put the music in its own folder) I'll transfer it out tonight. I'm really looking forward to more SD card space... I've been riding that 16g for awhile now, lol. Thanks for your help.

OK, took about 20 minutes to transfer files. Everything works perfectly... SD card says there is 59g of space. Is that right? Shouldn't it say 64g? Looking through Astro file manager there is a folder labeled Android, with about 5 subfolders that appear empty. Wonder what those are for? Apparently they take 5g of space. Any ideas or is this common to have "bloat" on an SD card?
