SD Card useless now?

So apparently I didn't decrypt my SD card in my N10 before removing and placing in my N20U5G. The device could read the folder structure but not the files. Put it back in my N10, encrypted then decrypted. The N10 too is now only seeing the folder structures. No files.

Is my data gone for good??

Thanks

Would recovery software work? I've had recent success with a couple of hard drives, so just a thought.

If possible you can use an app called recuva. You can download it on your PC and then try to recover the sd card files. Best of luck hope it helps.

I have very limited experience with that. Does that even apply to sd cards?
Lets put it this way. It worked for me. I don't make suggestions that don't work. It's not a guarantee but worth a shot. It's free and works for the most part. It works on flash drives and I restores most of my sd card files. Google search it you'll see what I mean. Best of luck.

Did you factory reset your N10 after you removed the SD? If not, the N10 should have been able to read it when you put it back in, and then you could decrypt it. Not sure when you said that you put in back in the N10 and you encrypted again and then decrypted?

But if you did factory reset your N10 after you removed the SD - yeah, unfortunately I don't think there is a way to decrypt. It's not like it's corrupt data or deleted data where you might be able to recover some data - but it's encrypted so unless someone has the key to decrypt, all the files are done, and the only thing that had the key to decrypt was your N10 before resetting it.

Has not been reset yet. The card apparently sees the folder structure. But not the files themselves. Plus the software is reporting couple GBs of data on it.

Hmm, weird. And this is after clicking on Decrypt SD Card and entering the pin/pswd?

Encryption 101.
If there's the tiniest chance ANY data on card was not de- encrypted before the above situation... Toast. Sorry.

I had done the same thing but when I put it back in my old S10+ it was then readable again and I was able to decrypt it and see everything on my new phone. Not sure what happened to yours.

What are the benefits of decrypting your sd card?

The benefit is that you can put the sd card in another device and be able to use it. The benefit of encryption on the phone it can only be read with the device that encrypted it. So if somehow you took out the sd card and lost it. No one would be able to view what's exactly in the card. They may be able to view meta data, but that's it.

Yeah that's what I figured. Seems more pain than it's worth.
