This may be a stupid question but how do i access my sd card on my droid?

Through your File Manager application (much like windows 3.11 LOL).

Not sure what you are asking but here goes.
1) Its behind the battery cover.
2) You connect the Droid to the computer via USB, hit the notification bar and select mount.
3) You can download Astro File Manager and access it through your phone.
