SD Encryption Confusion

I purchased an S7 and bought a 64GB micro SD card for it. When I set up the phone, I selected the option to encrypt the SD card, and then I began loading my content onto the card. I was happily using the phone believing that my data was encrypted until tonight when I took it out of the phone and plugged it into my computer. The data was all unencrypted. I did not decrypt it before removing it, I wanted to test the encryption.

Is there something I missing? It seemed pretty straightforward, encrypt the card and forget about it. I cant imagine having to encrypt it after loading content onto it, because content changes constantly. I'd be doing nothing but decrypting/encrypting.

Weird problem. I haven't heard of this, but I didn't encrypt mine

I think I figured it out. I tried opening the files and playing the mp3s and they all failed with invalid file formats. So apparently the SD card is encrypted, but its strangely encrypted. Like all the folders and file names are there, but they aren't readable. Strange but whatever.
