SD Memory Card is not visible. Why?

SD Memory Card is not visible.

I had stopped using my Moto X Play for about a month and has transferred both my SIM cards and SD memory card to another devise.

I have now started using the Moto X Play omce again but was surprised to find that the SD memory card is not visible - the devise does not read it.

What could be the problem? And how do I go about resolving the troublesome issue.

Welcome to Android Central! Is the phone on Marshmallow? If so, did you set the SD card to act as Internal Storage (i.e., Adoptable Storage)?
