I read that the A55 week have seamless updating. Do you think this is something that can be added to current devices?
I don't believe so. Same as when it changed on pixel's, only started with preceding models.I read that the A55 week have seamless updating. Do you think this is something that can be added to current devices?
That's a choice, not a requirement. Google didn't do it because the next device featuring A/B was already in testing.I don't believe so. Same as when it changed on pixel's, only started with preceding models.
Maybe that's why they are trying it on a lower end model. I didn't think about the issues with Odin. That's a choice, not a requirement. Google didn't do it because the next device featuring A/B was already in testing.
If am OEM wanted to, it could be back ported but is highly unlikely on anything lower than the last 1 or 2 flagships. For oversimplification purposes, A/B is really nothing more than a temporary mirror partition with some scripting that clears the other partion once it's verified bootable.
As for my personal opinion, you don't want A/B as a Samsung user. Our phones literally take 3 minutes for a normal security patch and at most 10 mins for a full upgrade. It's unknown if A/B will kill ODIN or if Samsung will even do an A/B according to Google spec. They could just do their own version that meets the requirement to slip by.
