Searching for location

I have noticed that on my lock screen my phone is constantly searching my location I'm wondering of that's constantly causing a battery drain..

If it's always showing, yes, it's draining your battery (to what extent, though, depends on what it's using to set the location). Maybe a weather widget updating?

Try switching the Location Services switch off and then on again (or going into Airplane mode and then out of it), sometimes that helps to rectify rogue apps polling for location and that, somehow, got stuck.

Well I changed my location service to gps only to see if that reduces it

GPS-only is the most battery-hungry mode, BUT if your WiFi doesn't provide location and you were set to WiFi-only, that could be why the location was constantly polling. I'd check if there aren't any running apps that are abusing location services.
