Searching Location Notification: HOW TO REMOVE/DISABLE/PREVENT?

I found a thread regarding the issue of the PERSISTENT location notifications that, no matter what one does or doesn't do, WILL NOT GO AWAY. Apparently this is still an issue as numerous people have tried (and failed) to get rid of the notification.

To expedite:

  • Clicking on the notification takes me to location settings. No matter what setting is chosen, the notification persists!

  • No, there is no app, widget, google-related or otherwise that has changed recently as this notification has bugged me forever.

  • Yes, I have tried modifying every app, widget, google-related or otherwise by installing, re-installing, uninstalling, disabling and/or force quitting when the option was available.

  • I have tried numerous task managers to keep the notification suppressed - nothing works.

  • Lastly, I have also tried changing the notification priority settings but the option to simply BLOCK the notification is not available.

It wouldn't be so bad if I could at least swipe the notification away so I could see what is next in the list - i.e. if gmail is telling me I have 3 new messages - I cannot see the notification expand until it is at the top of the notification list but to get it there I need to be able to swipe away the "searching location" / "location found" notification.

Can anyone help?

I've attached a screenshot for reference.

Your GPS isn't working, it's that simple. To get rid of the notification you have to have the GPS working. (Some app asked the GPS for your location - maybe just turning the GPS on will make it work. I don't know Motorolas.)

I have gps on my phone and its turned off until I need it also all notifications are off ! the only things I get are phone calls and text I kept getting Facebook and location alerts and it drained my battery down, now I charge it about every other day. look in your settings and disable programs you don't want running in the background !

I have the same problem and am equally annoyed. The phone will also throw double notifications like "location found" that is not something I want to be notified about at all!!
Just like with app notifications I should be able to press long on them and disable them.
This Android behavior is like having to deal with a toddler that keeps repeating the same thing and you can't stop them.., but worse. At least toddlers grow out of it.

I think I'm having a similar problem.
I updated the Droids system... And now I get very annoying location notifications. I turned off my location and it "seems " to have stopped beeping... This isn't a permanent solution. Has anyone figured this out?

I have a Droid Turbo. Here is what I found as far as settings and how to clear the Notification
Settings:
Go to Settings
Go to App Notifications
Go to top right and click on the three dots to bring up the menu
Clink on SHOW SYSTEM
Scroll down and look for GPS Notifier - I've turned all the setting off, to see if this will stop the Notification, I am not sure what else this might stop showing me

To clear the Notification that won't go away
Go To Settings
Go to Apps
Go to top right and click on the three dots to bring up the menu
Click on Show System
Scroll down to find GPS Notifier
On the screen that come up, click on FORCED STOP.
This will remove the Notification that won't go away

I am not a phone tech person by any means, but this Notification was driving me crazy and this is what I just found to kill it

***** Update ++++
My changes did not permanently fix the issue. When I looked at my phone this morning the damn notification was back. So although the Force Stop did remove the notification I have yet to find a way to stop it from reappearing.
