Second thoughts?

I am extremely happy with this decision, love my bolty!

Not a fan of blur at all.

I don't know if I'm having second thoughts and certainly not upset for not waiting for Bionic but I do have a few concerns. I'm coming from an EVO and switched more for financial reasons than the actual phone. I got charged a few months ago for an EVO that wasn't returned on time. Since them my bill has gotten out of control and even paying $2/300 a month I couldn't catch up. I set up payment arrangements and each time a manager has revoked them and my service gets shut off with no notice. I got so fed up with going back and forth and the TBolt was the perfect excuse to ditch Sprint. As for the device, I don't know if I miss my EVO yet but so far my data speeds ate nowhere near what my EVO was getting. I have found a few hardware issues like poorly lit home and menu buttons and some light leaking but such is to be expected when we buy the very first batch of handsets. A few weeks ago we had fios installed in our home and just received the first bill, its $149 for internet and phone. No tv. This scares me. I was a huge fan of my EVO and with Sprint set to launch the EVO 3D, I kinda think I should have giving them one more shot at getting my bill. Under control. Not that the bill is their fault but I was keeping my end of the deal and they were not. The reps at VZW were amazing to deal with and that alone left me with a good feeling that were off on the right foot. I'm very anal about my things, if your lucky enough to have nice stuff than they should be kept nice so I haven't been able to really play with my TBolt until I have a proper screen protector installed. Good luck guys.

This is my first Android phone, and I am completely satisfied. I knew battery wasn't going to be the best, but it seems like battery life is getting significantly better. The way I use it, the battery lasts me throughout my school day, which is all that I really need.

Also i'm sad to hear that some people are having problems with the phone. I really have NO hardware problems (besides the poor designed power button). No light leakage or dust in the screen.

We have to remember that this is a forum, so people with problems come to post issues. Therefore the numbers of problems from people might be falsely represented. No regrets here.

Is it worth it for the $599 price? I'm thinking of buying it to get grandfathered into the unlimited 4G in case they tier it at some point. Plus I really love the latest & greatest phones. :-)

I don't want to "trade-up" my Fascinate, I still really like it and want it as a back-up for the rest of my family so I can drop their insurance.

Definitely worth the $599 price. I did it after upgrading to my Fascinate which is rooted. It's going in the market tomorrow. This is better in every aspect of a smartphone.

It is not my blackberry, good or bad.
It's got its pluses and minuses.

But the biggest plus by far is DAYUM is it fast, both in operation and in LTE.
Holy Schnikes...

Well I have to admit the specs on that EVO 3D have given me pause. Made by HTC, 4G, dual core, qHD screen...made by HTC :D

BUT then I thought about it like this: it's coming to Sprint. I'm not going there. Plus it's not coming to Sprint for 3-4 months....which means it could be 6, 9 even 12 before it makes it's way to Verizon. By that time my contract won't be up yet, but I will be able to pay full price for the device with the money I'm saving with $29.99 unlimited 3G/4G data. :)

I have doubts that unlimited data will still be an option by the time a device with those specs makes it's way to Verizon. So right now I feel good. I'll be saving my money tho just in case something comes out that I WANT BAD...pay full price, and switch the SIM to that device and hopefully keep getting my unlimited data. :)

Anyway that's my plan we'll see what happens. Regardless, the T-Bolt has been a very nice upgrade from my Nexus One and I am happy right now and that's what is important. I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

Up to & even while I was upgrading I had second thoughts. In a few hours after playing & setting up the phone I knew I just made the best decision. Of course after a couple of weeks of using the phone I will know for sure. I have been on the phone constantly & the battery life is significantly better than my BB Tour.

Count me as having 2nd thoughts. Not seeing the hype of sense so I threw launcherpro on just like every other phone I've bought. Can't have it rooted because of work access. And coming from a Droid X w 1930 battery (albeit with only 2 weeks under my belt) the battery in the thunderbolt doesn't and likely never will compare.

I'm technically in a 4g area but at work it pulls 3g in the building and that signal isn't as strong as the droid x. Not only that but surfing the net on the phone...4g is only marginally faster than my droid x (admittedly this could be a network thing that will be fixed/updated in the future).

I'm likely returning my thunderbolt and waiting for the bionic.

Just wait 9 months and we'll see the evo 3d on Vzw :)

My bet us closer to a year. It's been just shy of a year since the original EVO came out and we are just now getting an "EVOesc" device on Verizon. but you might be right, however, will there be unlimited 4G data 9 months from now? I doubt it. If not, then we're the lucky ones because *hopefully* we can just pay full price and switch devices and keep getting our unlimited 4G :):)

IMO, the T-Bolt is the right device at the right time. I'm not being a fanboy...I'm not in LOVE(I do like it a lot) with the TB...but I've thrown it around in my head and this the plan I've come up with. Enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow. :)

1 with light leakage, 3 with dust in the screen. Currently got one with dust in the screen.

What is light leakage? Light through the creases of the body?

Dust? I am running to my phone right now with my Surefire flash light to check for dust!

Found one speck of dust. One cm com top left corner. Isn't visable unless screen is all white. Will have to look for it in sunlight today.
My BB Curve had bad dust within three months. Yuck

I am but that is ONLY due to having alot of issues with the T-Bolt, gone through 5. 1 with light leakage, 1 with a dead pixel in the center and 3 with dust in the screen. Currently got one with dust in the screen. Just all of these issues that should not be issues bother me.

I had an iphone 4 for 2 weeks and never had a problem with ANY hardware issues, I liked the phone, nice and simple (albeit a little boring) but GREAT battery life, would go 2 days easy without charging and I used it on a reg basis. However the screen IMO is too small. I LOVE the thunderbolt, more than I liked the iphone. However, if I cant get a T-Bolt without dust in the screen, screen leakage or dead pixels I cant imagine being able to stay with it and odds are I will just switch back to the iphone since it has no major hardware issues (light leakage, dead pixels or dust in the screen) Ah well we shall see how it all works out.

Hopefully I have my phone situation settled by tuesday (hopefully it's the t-bolt) but if not I'll settle for the iphone I guess and be fine with it.. One last note HTC PLEASE start making your phones without light leakage, dead pixels and most of all DUST UNDER THE SCREEN! Rant over haha

If you have gone through 5 phones since Thursday, I will venture to say that you will NEVER find a phone from any manufacturer that meets your expectations!!!!!

Um, every one that I went through had issues that SHOULD NOT be there.. From dust under the screen, to light leakage and dead pixels.. I have had other phones from Motorola and Apple in the past. An OG droid and Iphone 4.. None of them have EVER had ANY of those problems, lead alone ANY phone I have ever had.. Which leads me to the conclusion that it's all on HTC. I did some research and HTC has BY FAR the MOST complaints concerning dust under the screen and light leakage on their phones. Its a quality control issue on their part that they have to fix.. I mean am I supposed to accept a phone with dead pixels or dust under the screen? Especially when both are EASILY seen every time I look at the screen? I am sorry but if I pay $250 for a phone I want it to be as close to perfect when I buy it.. ;)

Absolutely not!! I love this phone all the way around. I came from a BB Storm 2 and this thing absolutely blows my mind away. It is so fast and it does even more than I thought it could. I love this phone and I'm definitely not thinking about getting another phone.

I am never turing back on the TB! It solves my everyday problems fast. As you will hear many tech reviewers say, dual core doesn't improve the everyday snappyness of a phone. on phonedog.com, Aaron said the inspire 4g with a single core next-gen snapdragon at 1ghz was snappier then the Atrix with the tegra dual core.

Not at all. The phone does everything I expected it to do. I knew it wasn't going to be the second coming, just a solid device, which it most certainly is.

It seems many issues, aside from the usual first batch hiccups that happen with almost any hardware, are happening with first time Android users that don't know how the OS operates.

As far as battery life is concerned, I don't live on my phone, so don't anticipate that being an issue. I've had the phone since 3pm yesterday. From a full charge, with the screen brightness at 90 and everything on except for Wifi, it currently sits at 60 percent. Perfectly fine for me.

With a couple of OTAs, it will only improve.

I too am moving from the Fascinate to the TB. It arrives on Monday and I have stressed more about this than I should have so far. I have been holding out for the Bionic since August with my upgrade and broke down and ordered the TB Friday.

Reasons:

1. Price 229 for 1 year contract
2. Kickstand
3. Unlimited hot spot trial
4. 4g price of 29 dollars

I just still do not know if I am doing the right thing. I am thinking use the TB and sell it when the Bionic comes out. Buy the Bionic. Ughhhhhhhhhh

I too came from the Fascinate and really enjoy the TB over Touchwiz. This phone has much more real estate than that phone, so that will be something to get used to. Screens..AMOLED wins, but the TB does a nice job. I wasnt getting a full day out of my Sammy so the reports on poor battery life do not really phase me. I can tell you this:
Last night off a fresh charge I ran the sucker hard non stop..Wifi, Gps on, surfing, calling
and after 6hrs and it had 23% battery when I was done .
Last item..after unplugging from charger (AC), the green LED was on but I plugged back in and it charged for 30 minutes more before turning from Orange to Green LED.

...for what its worth. Enjoy your new phone, I dont think you will have regrets.
