Security screen shuts off in like 3 seconds

Ever since I did the latest update, the security sign in screen drives me nuts. I use the zig zag (lock with pattern). The problem is this. Let's say I wake it up from sleep. The lock pattern lights up. I get like 2-3 seconds to complete it and it shuts off again. I'm trying to understand why and it's driving me nuts. Is there a setting that allows this to show a bit longer? I mean how stupid. The room is dark, I turn it on, just to make my way to the bed and it shuts off....like in 3 seconds. Does anyone know a fix?

There's actually no fix for it. It happens to so many phones and tablets and it's a mystery. The only possible remedy would probably be a cache partition wipe and factory reset in recovery. If you do a factory reset, back up all your data first or you'll certainly lose it.
