Security updates

Same, but it still makes me laugh that people are annoyed that the 3T exists. As an OP3 owner, I'm delighted to see they've been able to make some really nice (IMO) improvements in such a short time, as by the time I'm ready to change phones the OP4 will be out and this strikes me as a sign of good things to come.

I fully concur. I am embarrassed for the posters that appear so childish as they propose compensation from OP for releasing a freshened model "too early". I have yet to see a manufacturer release early info about forthcoming consumer electronics and live to tell about it. There is a model for that called the Osborne effect from the early 1980's. Many here probably never heard of Adam Osborne.

But a sure fire way to kill OP would be for them to prematurely announce the product, ala Adam Osborne.

I seriously considered a OP3 and then a OP3T but finally settled on a Pixel. The only reason I went with the Pixel is for the guaranteed security updates.

Perhaps I'm placing to much emphasis on security updates?

How many updates are those that own then seeing? Does anyone know what OnePlus' policy is on security updates is as I can't find it.

Good question as regards emphasis on security updates. I'd prefer to have them rather than not. But my old GS4 ran without issue for over a year on a September 2015 security update before I replaced it with a OnePlus3. My OP3 started with a 9/16 security update and went to 11/16 on the 3.2.8 update. I expect to see 12/16 when/if OP releases the Nougat update this month. After that? Who knows?

OTOH, there are the CBs which I believe incorporate the latest security updates. AFAIK, you can expect CBs to be continually updated.

You know that with Pixel, Google guarantees 2 years OS/3 years security updates. But that pales in comparison to Apple's update policy. So if security updates for the long term are your priority, you probably should buy an iPhone. :p
