Security updates

Updates are released by LG for unlocked models, and according to their webpage, the last major update WAS in June, 2019. There is another update released in February 2020, but it doesn't mention security updates specifically (and because the date is recent, it might still be in roll-out phases so might not hit your phone yet).

I have the TMO variant and my security patch level is February 1 2020.
Which is odd as i thought the carrier variants took longer since they had to be approved by carriers.
I would think the unlocked models should get the security updates much faster.
This is probably the last LG phone ill own due to their lack of speedy updates.

Not always. Especially in the US as of late, carriers sometimes even release before the manufacturer.

Thats never good. The manufacturer is the one who releases to the carriers, then they have to approve or send back for modification.
If the manufacturer cant get their own unlocked variant out before a carrier, that to me says the manufacturer has other priorities.
Its bad enough the V40 wont get android 10 till 3rd or 4th quarter of this year. Meanwhile other comparable phones from other manufacturers have it.
LG was called out a while back about slow software updates and supposidly addressed it with a dedicated USA division to fix the issue but it is smoke and mirrors. Nothing has been fixed. Updates are still to slow.
Which sucks as i saw info about the V60 and really want one but the slow software updates have me hesitating.
