If your phone isn't on portrait mode or when the top bar isn't visible you can still see it is it just me? Like if I view a picture that has a lot of white in it I can see the top bar on the top.

That is color degradation...a.k.a burn in ... Only fix is screen replacement, sorry :(

I wrote about it here.

Actually, OLED color balancing issues are fixable without a replacement screen. OLED's use red, green, and blue pixels to display, and each of these pixel types have a different life-span (sort of like a different ink for each color). Using something that shows relatively static (notification bar) uses up certain colors quicker than the rest. If you turn off whatever it is that's mostly static, it can level out over time, and remove the "burnt-in" image (i dont think its technically "burn-in", and is like color/pixel degradation or something, but i could be wrong about that)

So, in summary, if you are indeed having this issue, hiding the notification bar (ADW launcher can do it) should be able to hopefully level it out over time.

Also, as an aside, these pixels in general have a relatively large sum of hours before complete burn out (rated something like 50,000 hours on average) so you likely dont have to worry about them fully burning out while you have the phone (unless you plan on having it for almost 17-18 years with heavy usage in the ballpark of 8 hours a day screen on time)

But yeah, you can probably get it replaced through sprint if you have insurance or anything, if it's a big deal. I would assume that it wouldn't be TERRIBLE at this point since the pixels should still be relatively new, just a bit unbalanced from use.

(also note that im not expert, just a tech-enthusiast)

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

Yeah I said it was degradation. And given a long enough period of time they will all degrade and color shift to something you won't notice but that won't be for a long time. But what do I know I'm only on OLED development team

Yeah, i saw you said it was degradation, but i dont think color degradation is technically burn-in, i think its a different problem that's similar, but not the same.

I've always been told that ACTUAL burn-in died with CRT's, because of the move away from using phosphor-based screens.

Once again, i could be wrong, but like i said previously, i'm just putting in my 2 cents of what i know and/or have heard. I have no issues with being wrong.

This is correct, but at this point burn in is the easier term,,,,like saying 4G, we all know, LTE, WiMax ....etc is not 4G but thats the recognizable term. thats why I used it

How bad is everyone experiencing this? I looked really hard to find it. I can notice the battery and signal from the notification.

I have to really look though.

I bought my girlfriends Captivate from craigslist and it was really bad, like a big square in the center of the screen as if they left a popup there for weeks straight, i imagine it was some kind of demo model, so i bought a new screen online for $65 and replaced it myself. ..... my suggestions would be to always keep your timeout screen low. and never leave the screen on for long periods of time without a moving image..... like dont use your phone as a clock at night unless it is a bouncing clock.
