Seeking help from experienced user on 2nd device activation

So have a new device coming to hopefully fix my ongoing issues. Just hoping to hear from someone who has activated a 2nd device. Do I use new sim card or my currently activated one? Do I still need to call in with 4G activation system or is it once your sim is active you just swap it to new device an power on and should be good to go? Sadly the rep I spoke with had no idea since it was a new system ..big suprise I know right.

I have not activated a second thunderbolt, but I had a lot of problems with my first activation, so they transferred me to their 4G specialist (someone who actually knew what was going on). Basically, the SIM card only controls the 4G portion of the phone, so you'll still need to call in to activate the cdma portion of the new phone. The specialist stated the card was tied to the phone number, and not the phone itself, so either the old card or the new card should work. The specialist also stated there were still many bugs with the cards, but at worst, they only cost pennies to produce and any Verizon retailer would likely hand out replacements for free.

Put in the old sim card (new one wont come with one). Go on onto verizon website and sign in. Click activate new device. Choose your number, put in the IEMI number. Power on device and you are good to go.

You want to use the old sim card, because that is tied to your line.

Essentially you can use whatever SIM card you want, but it will then be tied to your number and not usable on any other number. But, yeah, do what he said, sounds like he's done it before. And for reference, your IMEI can be found under, Settings>About Phone>Phone Identity.

if you get a new sim card for some reason (the old one is tied to your account/phone#) and you activate the new sim the old one becomes trash. just so you know. unless your sim is corrupted you wont need a new one.

just pop in the old sim card and it will auto activate your device!
what ever you do if a csr tells you to hit *228 to activate ur 4g phone tell them NO! lol (I had 3 csrs tell me to when I had problems with the instore activation last week and a tech told me to hit *228 today trouble shooting the data outage today. :/ )

Yep, activating a new sim card will invalidate any old sim cards, but like I said, if you have any problems, the 4G representative said Verizon stores are giving them out for free, so don't hesitate to ask. The 4G representative also specifically told me not to call the *228 as it was only for 3G only devices (despite the fact the 4 previous csrs all told me to) and wouldn't do anything for the thunderbolt. As a side note, the internet activation route did not work for me, either, and every csr I talked to was of no help and ended up transferring me, so if you run into any problems and need to call, immediately ask for a 4G representative.

Awesome thanks for all the friendly advice folks. So does the Sim card retain any of my settings or the SD card. Only asking because I currently that that annoying FB sync issue where my contacts got synced when phone got setup. So just want to be sure when I put in old Sim / SD I still get to setup the phone how I want it and make sure FB contacts are NOT synced!

Secondly anyone know how much information that new google backup is going to remember it was the option for your information to be "backed up" Believe it is under Privacy settings labeled as "Automatic Restore" & "Back up my setings".
