Seidio 1750 Users

Am I doing something wrong? I have been through 5 cycles with the Seidio 1750 battery and am seeing little improvement. I actually just charged it until green, turned it off, and waited another hour and a half. After unplugging it, I played a game of Shoot U. Over the course of 17 minutes, it went from 100% to 88%. Is it possible it wasn't fully charged at 100%? Or should I be more patient with it? (Yes, I charged the first time for 8 hours and also have run the battery to under 10% before recharging.)

Also, the instructions say to charge the battery for 2-3 hours after the green light goes on. Due to the fact that the Incredible seems to switch to battery power after hitting 100% and still plugged in, does that mean that the additional 2-3 hours need to be with the phone off?

I don't know exactly what you did but this is what I did.

Arrived in the mail, with the phone off I charged for 8 hours overnight. (SO it actually got about 10-12)

Next day used it, on my first charge I only got about 8 hours out of it. Continued this same charging pattern for a week. Each day I was gain 1 to 1.5 hours of life. I never let it get below 14% which is the point my phone says to plug it in. After a 5-6 day deal of doing that on a weekend when I had the time I bump charged it once. I charged fully from 14% - 100% waited for the light to turn green. Bump charged it by unplugging it and pluggin it back in three time.

Since then I've just charged it with the phone on sitting on my desk plugged into the computer and normally get 14-16 hours without thinking about it. I can go from 100% - ~80% in an hour if I use nav or play game for the full hour, along with all the background syncing etc.

Sounds like you are doing it the right way, you won't start seeing actual gains until about your 6th-7th full charge on it. So keep at it.

Anything that uses GPS, 3G data, or the Screen will kill the battery pretty quickly. If I turned my 14-16 hour battery on and did nothing but GPS with no charger it would probably kill the phone in 2-3 hours. If I do nothing but game, which I'm guilty of doing from time to time, I could kill the battery in about the same time. SO what you are seeing isn't too abnormal, so don't judge your battery by how long it lasts with the screen staying on. Just charge and use it normally surf here and there check some mails, play a few game, stream some YouTube. Mix it with WiFi and 3G and you will be surprised by the life of it. I use my phone for everything. If I'm on the road all day visiting clients and I'm GPS heavy for the day plus a lot of web browsing for things my battery starts getting weak quickly(by 4PM off the plug at 8AM). So I normally charge while driving so I don't have to worry. If it's a normal work day playing a game here and there for 10 minutes or so, messing with web browsing on WiFi and a bit of 3G, checking my mail, checking out youtube and twitter I can go all day without an issue.

I think its a 3G issue. I have a so-so signal in my office which may have been the problem earlier. Now that I am home and on WiFi the battery has stabilized quite nicely. I'll keep tweaking it like you said. Thanks for your help Qaz.

I've notice that. I am a reformed crackberry addict so I used the Crackberry forums a bit too.

Back to topic, leaving WiFi on all the time probably is not a great idea? I would imagine that searching for a Wifi signal when none is available would chew up battery life as well.

Some claim it does. And I'm sure it does, but I leave mine on. The only things I turn off when I'm not using them are GPS and Bluetooth. Each to his own, it can't hurt to turn it off though that's for sure!

Cool. I'll tinker some more. I'm a cityguy so I come across open WiFi networks all the time as it is.

I think my other issue is that I can't put this phone down! Its still too much fun to mess with. That will wear off in time a little so that will help battery life.

I just got the MOAB...mother of all batteries...the gargantuan 3500 mAh. It's dropped like 2% in three hours of unplugged, light usage.

And it hasn't had it's first truly full charge yet. I can't wait to put it through its paces tomorrow.

Now I've gotta find a case for it...

I had the 1750mAh battery. It was kind of freaky.

Some times, it'd go half hour or better before dropping significantly. Other times, it'd be in the 80s before an hour was up.

I'm not what I'd call a heavy user. A couple of calls, a bunch of email, I stream music for about an hour while I walk the dog...the gps is on with the tracker program.

I'd plug the phone in at night anywhere from 35% to 50%.

You won't find a case for it. You can Mod existing cases though!

You have to remember the 1750 battery is only 450mAh's bigger then the stock one. that is only roughly 35% bigger. Depending on your use habits, you may not get much more time out of it.

I thought the same thing until I went from 5-6 hours on the 1300 to 14-16 hours on the 1750. I know it doesn't add up but that's what happened with me!

Well aware of your blog. You have advertised it here A LOT. We get it people don't believe the battery is as big as advertised. Do I believe it sure. But even your own testing shows at the 150mah rating the battery is ~92.5% of what's promised. For me well within the tolerable range for given as promised especially since we have no clue what the testing variable are for these phones, or how they tested their battery to rate it. But I know there are A LOT of people out there that have 1750 batteries and I haven't heard one person complain about only having 5-6 hour battery life. In fact I ended up buying it after several people on this forum responded to my inquiry about the life (after reading battery boss's site) and most people where claiming numbers anywhere from 8-24 hours. Usage does tell the true story I don't worry myself about people testing a handful of batteries and saying they aren't any good when we have so many people saying other wise.

For a supposed 35% more battery I'm getting 150-200% more life. I get more life (not much more) than what my 1500 I tested did. So bottom line is rather this is a 1550, 1668,1700,1300 or whatever it works.

I love this phone still and I was shocked one day when I killed my 3500.I think the longest that I got out of the 1750 was until lunch.

Wow. That must have been some heavy duty use with the 3500 to kill it in a day.

If the battery is going to drain from my usage of the phone, then that's one thing. But if it is draining when it just sits there, that's another. I'm starting to realize that my battery s most affected by 3G or WiFi. I'm on the OEM today and staying connected to my company's WiFi to see how that works out. I'd prefer not getting one of the bigger batteries but we shall see. I'm near a charger enough that it shouldn't be an issue. Plus, I can carry a spare battery.
