I got the 3800 extended battery a while back when it was the deal of the day here on AC. It's been great, but I went to use NFC today, and it's not working. I thought it was maybe my TPU case overtop of the back, so I removed it and tried again. Still not working.. I though well maybe it just is too thick and stands away too much, so I removed the battery back and tried NFC'ing the entire back of the device with the battery exposed. It's not working :( did I get a borked unit from the AC store or am I doing it wrong?

I sent you a PM

I replied. Thanks for being so swift to answer my thread.

now that's what i call customer service.
and truth be told, i'm now more likely to buy from that company (since i first bought my extended battery for my Evo way back when).

Yup, I unfortunately had not such great luck with the one I bought for my Incredible way back when, hopefully this one gets resolved considering it's much, much newer and much more expensive.

Except of course that the answer was a secret, I assume it was that it doesn't have an NFC chip in it?

He hasn't gotten back to me, and the device does have the antenna in it. At least according to the invoice I got from ShopAndroidCentral. It's entirely possible I got shipped a defective unit, or I got shipped the wrong product.

It appears that you do have the correct version of the battery, and I do apologize for the issues you are having with the product.

We would be happy to replace the battery for you under our warranty. I can file a claim on your behalf for you to receive a replacement. If you could send me a copy of your proof of purchase from ShopAndroid and confirm your ship to address, I will get that filed for you.

Go ahead and send it to forum@seidio.com. Thanks!

This is one of the many reasons I use Seidio products. Excellent customer service.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Seidio's customer service has been fantastic, and I will certainly purchase accessories from them again. But I'm on my second battery that has been unable to read NFC tags. Here's hoping third time's the charm.

It's been ten days since I posted this thread originally. I still don't have a replacement for the faulty battery, I did receive confirmation from Seidio that my claim had been accepted and that they'd send me a replacement with pre-paid return in the mail at the beginning of this week.

I'm kind of pissed off, but what upsets me more is that my 3800 battery life started degrading very rapidly, so badly that I had to stop using it and go back to OEM.

So now, not only does the NFC not work, the entire battery is garbage. I went back to the OEM battery and my phone refuses to charge past 88-92% with the OEM charger and cable :(

You may need to wipe battery stats, but I'm not sure if that can be done from stock recovery.

Yeah, I use Clockwork Touch. I did wipe battery stats, went back to the extended curiously and it's having the same issue now, not charging past 88-92%. I'm losing 10% an hour on my crapped out extended battery on WiFi. :-/

Is it possible that the Seidio cell could've done something to my phone?

UPDATE:

Well I finally got the replacement in the mail a few days ago, and I've been a happy camper. Until today when I got home from work, I went to use my NFC tag to toggle WiFi back on after walking in the house, and nothing happened. I thought hmm.. maybe there's something wrong with the tag, or maybe for some reason I turned it off on my Nexus. Nope, and nope.. the damn thing is not working at all now. None of my assortment of tags work, and beaming from Nexus 7 and Nexus S failed miserably. I put the OEM battery back in and voila, NFC works just fine. This is crap and I'm really starting to regret purchasing the NFC extended. I could've bought a few chinese batteries from eBay/Amazon for this price and surely one of them would've been a trooper.

screw seidio and the other cheap crap on ebay and amazon just get the damn OEM extended from samsung yea its not 3800 brick but i find the 2000 mah to be just perfet gets me thru atleast a 12-15 hour day and it comes with a new back plate that still feels the same and says google and samsung and really isnt much thicker and still fits in any case ive tried
1st party oem> 3rd party
sorry for your troubles thou
sucks :-\

I kind of agree with you, but with as much as I use my phone during the day sometimes, especially when I'm going to be away from a charger for a while.. having all that extra juice is more than welcome. I feel like a 2100 over the stock 1850 just won't be enough for me to get by with. Maybe if I had two of em, but then I'd have to buy an external charger and it'd be even more money down the hatch. I have a TPU skin on mine so it looks fine, and thickness isn't an issue. I like the device having the extra heft to it, gives me more to hold onto and not drop. I'm just fed up with trying to make this work, I kept convincing myself not to buy any extended batteries for this thing for a long time in fear of headache or disappoint; both in this situation.

Seidio hasn't replied to my email I sent them in reply to this second battery being a failure. I feel like my business with them as a company is probably pretty much done.

Well, you are not the only one having this EXACT problem. I just received a replacment battery from seidio today, and to no avail, nfc still doesnt work. Weirds me out that it works fine with the stock battery, but not this one.
If you every find a solution to why it isnt working, hope you post it in this thread .
