Select music, get voicemail instead?

Start the car, wait a minute or two for synching, stereo display shows the appropriate title from the current playlist, then it starts playing archived VMs instead. Doesn't happen all the time and only really noticed it the last few weeks, since the last VZW update. If it can't synch with GMusic, how can I at least remove VM as the default?

What app opens up when the voice mail is playing?

For me the stock music player would activate so I ended up disabling it (I'm rooted though).

Verizon's Visual Voicemail. I can't find anything related to this in its settings menu.
