Selective Call Screening

I am looking for an app that will screen calls so that only a selected group of people will ring through to my phone. The trick is I only want that to be active at nights and during the day everyone can get through to me. I have no problem with manually starting the app at night and then stopping it the next morning.

Would appreciate your suggestions on an app that would meet my needs.

Go to Settings > Blocking mode. It will do exactly what you want.

Oh, wait, I just noticed you're on Verizon. I seem to recall reading that Verizon disabled that feature. I think there was a way to enable it. Maybe search in the Verizon S3 sub forum.

Thanks I have installed a shortcut app will allowed me to access Blocking Mode but when I set it up to block all calls (just to test) it did not work. So I am thinking that Verizon might have disabled the Blocking Mode in addition to hiding it. If there is anyone out there that is on Verizon and has successfully used Blocking mode I would like to know if they are rooted or not (I am not rooted).

If you go to the dialer and go to settings there's a auto reject mode there.

The auto reject mode will reject all calls or a specific list of people which is the opposite of what I want. I want to reject all calls except certain people during certain time of the day. The Blocking Mode is exactly what I need but it does not seem to work on Verizon S3

Please tell me if this app will work for me the way I want, it appears it may not function as I want. I would like to have a whitelist which would be able to call me any time day or night (leave my phone on 24 hours a day) but I would like everyone NOT on the whitelist to get voicemail during hours that I set.

Thanks for your suggestion and help.

By default no, however there's a setting you can activate to do that - in the "Blacklist" setting.

I'd recommend downloading it & trying it out.
Don't worry about passing the 15mins - I've contacted the Dev a lot & if it can't be set up the way you want he's nice to deal with & will likely refund you without hassel.

It sounds like it is akward but possible. I think I am going to try to discuss the Blocking Mode with Verizon before I try your suggestion but thanks for your help.

It's pretty simple, I slapped together a quick guide for you.

Thanks for the guide but it apears that you are adding numbers to the blacklist for a specific period of time. I do not want a blacklist for a specific time I want everyone to be on the blacklist for a specific time period with the exception of people on my whitelist. I don't see where you are using the Google Calendar (which is actually better as far as I am concerned).

Here's a quick guide to setting it up with Google Calendar.
It's the last guide I'll be making for this thread (LoL), sorry.

I am sorry I did not mean to sound ungrateful. I know you are trying to help me so thanks!

Lanhoj - I have not ried Extreme Call Blocker yet but I did email the developer about automatically setting time period and it sounds like they have a different and easier solution than you suggested so I thought you might be interested. Below is my question and their response:

In pro version is it possible to set it so that every day at a specific time (say 11 PM) that your app activates and blocks every phone number from ringing except for selected contacts and then automatically at say 8 AM your app deactivates and all calls ring to my phone normally (if it makes any difference I have a Verizon S3 with JB not rooted).

Yes, Add a symbol * as a number in the black list, and set two timers for it, one from 11pm to midnight, another one from midnight to 8am, that will do it. You need to put those numbers you don't want to block in the white list.

I needed to do the exact thing you do a week or so ago to deal with a psycho exgf. She tries to reach me from multiple numbers so I only wanted my 'accepted list' to come thru to my phone. For some reason this is so much harder to do than to block specific numbers. Idk, maybe I'm stupid.

I happily pay for privacy star. Have had it 3 years. Love the app
