Selectively turning off notification sounds

I figured how to turn off all sounds (or all but the alarm), but that also turns the phone ringer off. I find getting a sound every time I get an email irritating. Is there a way to just turn off the sound for emails?

Well, I just figured out part of the answer. I have the Outlook app downloaded and get most emails through it. It lets me turn the sound off.
