I'm having a problem with app icons suddenly appearing on the home screen of my wife's GS3. She is also is getting app ads in the notification bar. Can anyone tell me how to fix this.
Hi, I'm a Sprint Product Ambassador and am here to help.
It's something she downloaded. The fact that there are ads in the notification bar is a dead giveaway and those types of apps are notorious for downloading content the user did not install. The trick is finding the bad app. Lookout might be able to scan the phone and find it but our experience is that developers do a very good job of disassociating the ads from the source app.

And you say apps keep installing to the homescreen is it apps she is downloading from the market ?
If it is go to settings in the play store and you will see where it auto adds shortcuts to the homescreen.
But it's probably not that so use the app I suggested and you should find your culprit
Thanks for the help. She has downloaded 2 games, Picfolio HD, Lookout and Swiftkey so far. I do remember a pre installed widget that was on the phone when she bought it. It was some kind of app suggestion app and I deleted it from the screen, but can't find it in her apps.
Uninstall the games and stick to paid apps. Free apps are never really free as you've noticed. Homescreen icons don't affect install/uninstall. App drawer will contain all apps currently installed.
To find S Suggest go to settings and application manager. Search through ALL tab, click on S Suggest and see if it's enabled.
Also, if you go into google play and then settings, turn OFF auto add widgets. Every app or widget you download will automatically be added to your home screen unless you turn it off.
