We all need to send a complaint to Google Play or Google about how they handled the shipping to all the pre order customers.
Any one have the email address?

I'll possibly put in a complaint, but i'm going to wait till Monday to see if people start getting theirs.

I put in a request of my order status to see if they would let me know when they are shipping. I somewhat feel bad for all the people in their CS department getting phone calls from everyone asking the exact same question.

Why do you need to complain? because you ignored the big lettering that said "Ships in 2-3 weeks"
or because you didn't know that Gamestop is Notorious for ignoring street dates and Google being new to retail most likely didn't make the penalties for ignoring street date harsh enough?

How did Google mishandle Shipping to pre-order customers? They still have almost a full week to ship the FIRST pre-orders before they're considered late.

How about instead of overwhelming their support lines with pointless complaining, we wait until there is something significant to complain about?

Very well said, and far more polite than I could be this early without coffee.

im upset because google thought it was more important to ship to these stores first, rather than their loyal day-one customers who ordered directly through google. if the "street date" was 8/7 for gamestop, then why did they ship to them first?

There is so much to complain about I don't know where to start and if you don't understand the problem, there is probably no point in attempting to explain.

I realize you are trying to take the high road, but its less glamorous when its obvious your good nature is being taken advantage of.

Stores ALWAYS get product first. Shipping to these stores does NOTHING to limit playstore orders because Gamestop's order was placed MONTHS ago.

I understand that very few people work in retail, let alone in an industry that deals with Street Dates, but this is a common practice and typically a GOOD one for all companies and consumers involved. Where it breaks down is when you have a shady retailer (like gamestop) that ignores street dates coupled with a company of optimists (Google) who don't make harsh enough penalties for ignoring them.

It's a HUGE logistical undertaking getting a product to hundreds or thousands of outlets by launch and this is one of the first times Google (even with the help of Asus) is attempting it. Google NOT shipping to gamestop would NOT mean they would ship pre-orders earlier. The two have nothing to do with eachother.

Google said 2-3 weeks. we haven't reached 3 weeks yet. Where is the problem?

The only "fault" google has in the Gamestop fiasco is trusting a shady company. Complaining to them won't solve that.

If you think that Gamestop getting these devices (or releasing them early) has ANY impact on when pre-orders ship, you don't understand how retail works.

I would think it would be a priority to address the higher profit margin sales (direct sales) than to ship them out to retail outlets who will obviously take a cut. I am going to try my hardest to nab one off a shelf today and send them back my direct order. I am sure I am not alone there.

God bless you Jason for staying the course, but I am sure their direct sales numbers are really going to hurt after this.

Yes, their direct sales will be hurt, but that's because people are (largely) stupid when it comes to things concerning retail. That's not really their fault. It's a confusing as heck industry. But people really need to sit back and think this through.

Again, these retail shipments were placed MONTHS ago and do NOTHING to effect pre-order ship dates. There is no "priority" that's what people aren't getting.

If google does anything it will only harm the consumer, because the ONLY way to prevent this fiasco is to refuse to give any retailer the option to sell the device until it's a direct-exclusive for a few months.

Tell me, who does that benefit?

Yes company X may give you an exact release date, however Google/Play store did not, and in no way mislead you. At the time of your preorder did it not say 2-3 weeks? If you were not happy with that why did you preorder?

I just called the playstore hotline. They have a pre-roll recording that says:

" Nexus 7 orders are shipping today and that all pre-orders will ship within the next three business days. Once your tablet ships, you will receive a confirmation email straight from Google"

There is your confirmation. Now go find something else to complain about.

To hear it yourself, call: 1-855-83-NEXUS (63987)

Well I think there is the problem right there. If you ordered from Google, you made THEM the priority to have your business. Once you make that sacrifice, there is an expectation that there will be an incentive to do so.

Why would anyone preorder if you knew by doing so you would be getting your device AFTER the people who didn't? There is a presumption that if you cut out the 3rd party, the manufacturer will make it worth your while. If they presented this thing and said "You can preorder with us now, but if you wait like 2 weeks you can get it from a retailer a lot sooner. Oh and they wont charge you shipping!" No one would have preordered.

To say that people who ordered from 3rd parties receiving a better sales experience isn't wrong is incomprehensible.

What part of "Gamestop IGNORED the street date" didn't I make clear. If gamestop played by the rules, pre-orders WOULD be getting their devices first. Gamestop decided to refuse to play by the rules they agreed to to get the device at launch. I'm hoping Google blackballs them, and hopefully there is a stiff fine as well. Shady practices like that hurt EVERYONE because it disincentives companies from creating multiple launch locations, which is bad for consumers.

Gamestop is at fault here, NOT google.
