i send my friends GIF files sometimes through text. on the iphone you were able to copy and paste it with no problem. when i first got the galaxy i was able to download it and then send as attatchment. but now all of a sudden maybe the last 2 days it wont let me do it anymore. it says send through wifi or bluetooth but im actually on wifi. and theyre not bigger GIFs because ive tried to send ones that previously sent and now im getting the message. any ideas as to a setting i should check?

I have the same problem. My friend and I send gifs all the time. I have figured out how to send to him, but get a message of "file too big or unsupported by this device" when he sends to me.

I have run into this problem too. Have you guys tried any other messaging apps? I have tried Google Hangouts and Voxer but they do not support animated files.

Try using QuickPic. You can open the gif and choose the share option. Choose the messaging app then choose the contact. Your message gets sent as a gif.

Thanks trucky. I meant for sending gifs that are larger than the limit of 2MB. I am able to successfully send gifs using the stock application but they have to be <2MB.

I think that would be your SMS/MMS limit...

I'd check with your carrier to know for sure.
