Sending pictures

I am new to the world of smartphones so be patient with my lack of simple knowledge. I just got my new Infuse and tried to send myself a picture. The file I got on my computer was huge. I don't want to send my friends that big of a picture. How do I make them smaller for sending?
Also, isn't there a book that comes with the phones anymore? I can't seem to find a book even on line that tells how to do the simple stuff. I have just been playing around with it to learn things.
I do love this phone though. Just am feeling so dumb about it.

Are you referring to the user's manual? Samsung has it here:

That's what I was looking for. Don't know why they don't include them with the phone anymore. Now I can look up how to set the camera size.
