sending sms in Spanish using mrg666

I am currently on the mrg 9-28-11 and I was wondering how to send messages in Spanish. I'm using Google translate to copy text and paste into the stock messaging app to send. I downloaded the Latin ime apk. from the wiki and installed it through es file explorer. still won't work. who ever I send the message to just gets a bunch of question marks and weird symbols. is there anything els I can do to fix this? thanks in advance.

I would think that they'd need the software on their phone to "interpret" it as well.

I am able to see accented letters and whatnot from my girlfriend (EVO 4G running Gingerbread) and with the Swype keyboard set to Spanish I can send accented letters as well. Google voice doesn't like them but oh well. lol
