Sending Texts now Touchless

Has anybody else noticed this has been implemented? I know it was discussed that it was not happening a fair amount (though I had trouble locating the thread), but I have not seen any comments that it is now functioning. Next they need to bring this to reminders.

I just used Touchless Control (Ok Google Now) to send a text to my wife, and I was prompted to tell the phone which number to use (I replied mobile), and then it put my message on the screen and asked me if I wanted to send it. I replied yes, and away the message went -- not touching! I also replied send instead of yes on another message, and that worked as well.

I am not sure when this got updated, but I am thrilled that it did.

Yes, it is significantly more useful now. Really enjoying this feature.

I didn't realize it would do this now! Hooray! Thanks for posting about it or I may have never known. I hadn't been using touchless to send texts just because of the fact that you had to still look at the phone to be able to send it.

This comes up n handy since my phone is in a holder while I'm in the car.. I have enjoyed the touchless calling.. This is another great improvement.. The touchless control will advance as time goes

I am not sure when this got updated, but I am thrilled that it did.

I think it's a benefit of the recent Google search app update, which added conversation prompts like this. Touchless controls just hands off the voice prompts to the Google search app.

It doesn't matter why, I'm glad it now works.

Will it only work with the stock messaging app? Does anyone know? I was thinking of installing handcent or some other messaging app, but might not if it doesn't work with the touchless controls. Any help?

Not working with Handcent for me. Tried removing default settings for built in message app and there were none. If someone knows how to make this work, please let us know.

I don't have Handcent, but it does work with hangouts.

Based on the direction of messaging in KK, it should work with 3rd party apps post the update.

I've been sending texts hands free for years. I wasn't aware of any new implementation. My droid 2, galaxy nexus, razr maxx hd, and droid maxx always have.

i used the "ok google" voice command to send text the first day i got my phone which was last month. is this different?

They fixed it recently so you can confirm sending by voice and not have to touch the screen.

I can't get that final Send to work at times. Sometimes it gets it all and just sends. Other times it asks if I want to edit, Send is in blue...I say Send and nothing happens, have to touch it...

These may be obvious, but they improved my accuracy.

1. Wait for it finish asking you if you want to send it

2. Answer yes instead of send.
