Sending videos MMS/FB messenger etc.

Hi Folks hope all is well and everyone is loving the note 8! I love mine! So I have a question that hopefully I can get answer to. Whenever i take videos on my phone they are shot in 4k majority of them. When I send it via MMS or a different messenger app like FB messenger. The quality does not come out as good unless I share it via link. Any ideas as to why this happens and how I can remedy it? Any instructions or advice is greatly appreciated!

Because neither MMS nor IM is meant to send the actual file. They usually re-compress the video to be shared so that it doesn't take too much space. Via Link, you're uploading to a temporary cloud storage where the recipient can download an actual copy of the 4K video, not a re-compressed version of it. For MMS, furthermore, the limits are carrier-imposed so the file size that you can send via MMS will vary by sender carrier AND recipient carrier.

There's no 'remedy' for it; these services are just NOT meant to share full-quality video. Your only options are to keep sharing as Link, upload to a cloud service and share that link (like Photos or Drive) and share the link, or to upload to 4K video services that, although compressed, do keep most of the quality of the original video (like YouTube) and share the link.

Appreciate the feedback. Things are much more clear now. Ill send it via link as the quality isn't distorted. hell of a lot easier too!

Just be careful and let your recipients know as well: full-quality video files are HUGE. That means data galore. If you're on a mobile connection (both to upload on your end and to download on your recipients' end) and it's a metered one, it can have a heavy toll on your quota, not to mention it will take a lot longer than a compressed video on regular messaging platforms.

But you get full quality. No free lunch.
