Which you think is better all around?

Currently have both, of which the Image one is already broken in. The HD280 isn't so far.

As its current state, I do like the sound of the Image one better as it has more kick but i don't like the idea of it not being over the ear instead of on the ear. So after a while it kind of become uncomfortable.

I've read mixed review regarding the HD280 as some say it sounds great after broken in. So what do you think?

The HD280 Pros are freaking awesome once they break in. It takes a couple weeks or so of a lot of use to get there, but once it happens it is a complete transformation. That said, I have not hooked them up to the TB yet, since I use BT headphones. The Pros are for computer/mixing/detail work. If I remember, I will try them with the TB tomorrow. I say this because different headphones sound different with different devices. What sounds awesome in my iPod and from the stereo receiver may not sound good through the TB.

Anyway, in general, the 280 Pros have very flat response and incredible detail. You will hear EVERYTHING with them, which can be good or bad depending on what you're listening to. I'm always amazed at all the new sounds I hear in music when I use them.

If sound bleeding to the outside doesn't concern you, I would also check out the Grado SR60 series, which is probably the best headphone you will find under $100 for using with iPods, phones, etc. They are very efficient and the sound quality is superb. but, they do leak really bad...lol! We have two sets of them because they are so good. I've tried and owned a lot of headphones, and the Grados are probably my favorite overall for general use. The 280 Pros are technically "better" I think, but maybe too good in some respects. They are about as close to a perfect sound stage as you will find and some people don't like that. They want headphones that produce an altered sound stage, if that makes sense?

I have not tried the Image One though...

Reactions: zero neck
i do know what you mean about people wanting the altered sound stage.

i went and bought both and tried it out at home. to be honest ... HD280 pro wins hands down. Listening to some of my music that i reserve for long drives .. my god. makes my ear tingles with all these sounds that i wasnt able to hear on image one.

granted image one does pump out more bass but doesnt sound true. the hd pro sounds fantastic. listening to one of my fav cd, Bombay dub orchestra 's three cities, at a decent volume gives me that out of body feeling. something i only get through my car system.

image one is going back for refund.
