Sense 3.0 only supports "newer" devices, WHAT!?!

I know im in the minority...but this doesnt really piss me off or surprise me. Sense 2.0 is really really new, and they are moving onto 3.0 already, which is kind of odd in my opinion, but in the end, its not really that big of a deal.

Personally, I am just waiting for a stock gingerbread rom for the Tbolt, and I will be happy. I love stock Android. Sense is nice. Motoblur is blarg. But, stock Android is just fun to me...its simple, it doesnt have needless bells and whistles, and its pretty darn customizable on its own.

I agree with some of the others are saying about the sheer number of phones HTC is releasing...its getting kind of absurd. Im worried that this is somehow going to affect OTA pushes, even though they do this in tandum with VZW.

The funnier thing is that there is going to be 3 different versions out in a small time frame. You have 2.0 on the Thunderbolt, 2.5 or whatever it is on the Incredible S and then 3.0 on the Sensation and Evo 3D. HTC fragmentation at its finest

As someone else pointed out on engadget...why would I want Sense 3.0 if it's such a resource hog that it requires dual core just to function properly?

Sounds like Windows Vista.

HTC just posted this to Twitter:

"Clarification: aspects of the latest HTC Sense won't work on some previous devices. We are working to incorporate other aspects that will."

Personally to me it seems that sense 3.0 is slightly more cartoonish, the reason i came from stock samsung to htc was for how clean sense is and how nice it looks (as well as for 4G LTE), but for some reason the new lock screen on 3.0 bothers me.
However it would be cool to get weather animations on lock screen.

Yeah, I'm a little worried about how this is going to affect the update schedule for the Thunderbolt. If most of the new phones are going to be running sense 3.0, then that is where most of their efforts are going to go (when it comes to updating). I'm not quite sure why HTC would want to fragment the user experience when it comes to these phones. Almost every HTC phone is going to be running a different software, and I know the average user might not be happy about it.

I don't think we have to worry about that. We are definitely getting GB and since everyone is just now starting to get onto GB I don't think many devices will be running IC before it's time to upgrade.

Frankly, it doesn't matter too much to me. My EVO along with 2.3(gingerbread) seems awesome enough.

In-fact •>>>>> I'll be getting the HTC EVO 3D at some point. Hahaa.

Not a surprise. The most important thing is that we'll be getting Gingerbread on the TBolt, which should improve performance further. Insofar as their clarification...maybe they'll give the TBolt some of the features (i.e., the new lockscreen or the tabbed notification bar). Those don't look particularly system intensive features that they may be able to incorporate and that would be nice to have. :)

HTC official tweeter page, they mentioned that some old phones will get it but maybe with not all the features. They wanted to be clear.

The Thunderbolt is little more than a re heated EVO so its last years technology its no surprise to me. The beauty of a one year contract! :)

If its not full sense3.0 its not sense3.0 just part of it is not a whole. Keep it then, just like a poster requoted above, who needs it if it is too taxing on the hardware. Does your Tbolt eat batteries now how long do you think that 1ghz CPU will take to drain it when it stays full pegged?
And what is so bad about Sense2.0?
Its Android people you can change anything, we dont have some skinny turtleneck telling us what to do. Explore your options and enjoy

I don't care what anyone says a device that's only a month old and marketed as "It's not your dream devices, it's the one after that" should have support for the improve UI that's coming out shortly. If anyone thinks differently, they are really drinking koolaid here. It's one thing for a 1 year or 2 year old device to not be support but 1 month? Give me a friggin break.

I am by no means defending HTC, however to me a UI isn't as big of a deal as the OS. We'll be getting GB which is what will be standard for all of the upcoming phones. As long as we get the OS I'll be happy and if it's true that to have Sense 3.0 you need a 1.2GHZ processor then it's not that big of a deal. Plus like so many people have said, there will be developers that port it over.

Sense 3.0 is nothing more than a resource hog. The main thing I would want is the lock screen, HTC Watch and the Quick settings in the status bar. HTC already said some aspects will be on older hardware. I expect to see most of the features expect the launcher, lock screen and anything heavy on graphics.

Nah koolaid is for kids I drink Johnny black on the rocks 3 cubes please.

I understand that its a new phone and all but do you NEED the new UI?
And assuming with that many thanks already, your not an Android novice so you already new it wasn't gonna be the one after your dream phone especially when there were DC phones announced round the same time as this.
I want the latest and greatest like everyone else, but this phone does great as it is and I believe there are a lot of people who agree with me.

I think if we get anything it'll be the launching lock screen an thats bout it.

Well that's to you. If you're ok, that's cool. But to market a device as if it's groundbreaking and then it won't even be able to support the upcoming update is pure stupidity.

Yes. You may not, but I would like for my device not a month old to be supported by the carriers and manufacturers latest updates. I figure if I paid 600 bucks for it, that's not too much to ask. You can be all fine and dandy about it. But I'm not. Keep your opinion and I'll keep mine.
