Sense Weather App, City not accurate

My experience... 2 night ago i couldn't sleep so i was up at 1am. I noticed, however, my phone had changed my location to Warren, MI... ( i'm in central WA)...and my time was of course 3 hours ahead. I tried everything... restart, battery pull, different settings.. etc. Since i use my phone as my alarm i shut of Verizon location services, changed the time zone to pacific and went to bed. Yesterday morning, went to work and called Verizon. While i was on the phone with a very nice rep, the location fixed itself. She said to watch it all day and let them know if it came back. It didn't all day and the whole thing left my mind. Well.....until i was awakened at 3AM!! Turns out i traveled to Warren, MI while i slept. Quite the long drive if ya ask me. Needless to say it screwed up again and i was suddenly on eastern time with no way to get rid of it. So, turned off Verizon location again, reset the timezone and reset the alarm for 6am, PACIFIC TIME. lol Got to work and called Verizon again. ***After a time with the first rep on the phone, i was transfered to a repair tech rep or whatever you call them. She was very nice and we went through settings on the phone which all were correct. She then went to her Supervisor and asked if anybody had heard anything about this problem. Btw, by this time my entire data signal had gone. Even 1X was no longer there. She came back on the line and said that there is a service ticket open on the date problems and then said she was calling HTC. After a couple min, she came back and said that HTC let her know that they have been aware of the location problem and are working towards pushing out an update to hopefully take care of some of these issues. She also said HTC is "not" honoring a warranty of the Thunderbolt based on these issues. Mainly because they are well aware and is not a problem with the phone itself. Not sure if this helps, but i tell ya it's good to know i am not alone. I CERTAINLY DON'T WANT TO BE AWAKE AT 3AM TOMORROW MORNING!! LOL No offense to Warren, MI..i'm sure it's a nice place. But i'm in WA!

Well this happened to me last week. I traveled from Chicago to Michigan and as it should the clock gained an hour to eastern time. BUT when I came back to Chicago the clock stayed on eastern time and would not change until I did a battery pull. There must be some software glitch for sure.

Raptors advice worked for me....let's see if it holds.
Been driving me a little batty ever since last week.
It kept defaulting to my work city where I activated it....

Thanks!

I had the very same issues, I solved this by going to menu/settings/location and checked use only google location services, left the others unchecked. It has had my location and time correct since.

Mine keeps "defaulting" to Northwest Comanche (Oklahoma I think) and I'm in Rochester NY! I wish the weather was going to be 70 / sunny....today it's forcast for 29/ sunny here in good'ol Rochester. Glad I seem to be in the same time zone.

Last month my co-workers Evo did the same thing and yesterday I was stuck in NJ and I'm in MD. Just like my co-worker a battery a pulled fixed the issue for now.

I have no idea why it does this. I live in Moscow, Russian Federation. When I travelled to Kiev, Ukraine, it worked as advertised. But, after 1 week in Kiev, it displayed not only the weather, but the local time as well.... In PARIS!!!.. Only after I returned home to Moscow, and several re-boots later over the course of several days, did it finally return to Moscow local time and weather.

I suspect, a serious bug in the stock and distributed "widget" when concerning roaming in different cities/countries, especially with local carriers. I suspect this widget, was programmed in only 1 country, without any consideration for when one went "roaming".

I'm just surprised, that this widget, has been shipping with this reported bug, for over 2 years, and has never been fixed.

My wife is having the same problem. My thunderbolt hasn't been having any issues with locatoin and hers is showing her half way across the world. I've tried a bunch of stuff with no luck yet. Keeps coming back and showing the same location. :s

You have tried re-booting, and shutting down and pulling the battery? After a few days, my desire went to normal.

I know it has to do with roaming, especially under different carriers. Although mine stayed with Beeline in different countries

I have VZW location services unchecked and the other two checked and it accurately reports my city. It used to show the neighboring (larger) town but now it actually shows my little town.

Yes i've done all those things with no permanent fix

Well, I suspect, it is the same with this "widget". Am really sorry for you. I would suggest changing the "local" settings, to some place different, then changing back to your own. Make sure it is set, after changing, to get info from your local carrier. Other than that, well, I really don't have an answer.

worst case scenario, tap and hold on the widget, thendrag it down to delete it. Then ... add it again. It should refresh, (with some options). I know only that I was in Kiev, Ukraine, and it told me I was in Paris France!!!! I lived with it, till I got back to Moscow, and played with it.
