I've always thought that the Moto G4 and G4 Plus were too big - it would have been better to make the G4 as a 5" device for those who prefer a medium size, with the 5.5" Plus as the bigger option. With the latest models, the manufacturer seems to agree with me. The 5" G5 is a more user-friendly size. On the other hand, the Plus is only 0.2" bigger, instead of the 5.5" that some users would have liked. Hmm.

I agree with you! I used to like "bigger" phones - which, to me, were phones around the 5.5" range - but 5.2" is most likely my favourite. More compact, easier to hold - it's crazy how that 0.3" of a difference actually means so much!

But yes, a 5.0" for a smaller version and a 5.5" for a "plus" version would be pretty cool.

I'm in the camp where I'm really happy with the 5.2" G5 Plus. Just wish the bezels were a bit smaller. I'm still using the OG Moto X as a spare phone for my second sim, the G5 Plus with its camera and specs combination could be a perfect budget replacement for that if the price is still decent when it launches in Singapore (where I live).

I had tried the Moto Z, and played with a demo Moto Z play at 5.5" and found it way to big for my liking. In fact recent Moto phones from Lenovo hasn't really interest me that much. But the G5 Plus looks promising...

I like this decision a lot. It's awesome that the difference between the two isn't as great.

Absolutely! Then if one size isn't available but the other one is, it's not like you wouldn't be totally aghast to giving it a shot.

A US G Plus with NFC would be a near perfect backup phone for me, especially if the camera can live up to the hype.

Everyone realizes that the dimensions of the G4 and G5 Plus are almost identical despite the later having a smaller screen, right? They shaved .3" off the screen but the phone didn't shrink at all. Worst of both worlds.

I think it's a great looking phone and has some really decent specs, just can't downsize from a 5.5 in screen.

I'm really hoping they put out one eventually. I'm pretty happy with the phones I have so I can wait.

It's true, they're could be a little more of a gap. 5 inch to 5.5 inch but I think it works.
