Every time I send a pic to someone through text, it saves that pic again in my gallery. I now have multiples of the same pics throughout my gallery. Anyone else have this issue?

Gallery shows all pictures on the phone, it has no folder of its own so the pictures aren't getting "saved in your gallery", they're getting stored temprarily on the phone (and, for some reason, not getting deleted after they're being sent).
You can use a file manager to delete the smaller of the two files you find, or you can bring the phone into a reliable repair shop and have them diagnose and fix the underlying problem.

For me it's easier to manage photos with Google photo app.
From the menu, look at "device folders" and you will see App by app what photos are saved and will be able to eliminate the duplicates, enable or disable that folder from being uploaded to cloud.
There may also be a setting in your messaging app.
