Separate Ring and Notification Volumes

I purchased a Pixel4a. I had an older Motorola and I needed a more reliable phone. I will be going on a transplant list and need to be notified of incoming calls irregardless of time or place. I found that the ring and the Notification volume are linked together and this is unacceptable. Can someone suggest a workable solution to this that I could use?
