September Security Update

When a person enrolls in the beta, does that mean that they will not get OTA updates any more to a standard build? If so, I might have to bite the bullet and flash/factory reset.

As I haven't gotten the update (still on 90M and August) I really am starting to believe that enrolling in the beta takes the IMEI off whatever list drives the OTA updates.

My phone is working phenomenally well and has unbelievable battery life so I'm not to excited to mess around and sideload 90T (or 90U). I'm just concerned about why I haven't gotten an OTA yet.

Would be nice if they could let us know. Searching out updates kind of defeats one of the benefits of the Nexus line.

Exactly. This is my first Nexus phone which I got primarily because I assumed I would get timely updates. I'm still running 90M and the August security update.

I'm also still on 90M and I enrolled in the beta and then un-enrolled. Still no security update or anything. This is late for me since I usually get my OTAs on the 16th except one time where I got it on like the 10th.

Not too concerned about it since I might side load but I just don't have time on the computer.

I can sideload too but, frankly, I'm getting a little burned out on being a phone nerd (not that I'm much one anyway) and was hoping the 6P would get more timely updates than this. Of course, I guess I'm being pretty whiny given that the Note 5 it replaced didn't get MM until 8 MONTHS after it was released...first world problems are a *****. Haha...

Lol that's true. We are complaining about Android 7 updates meanwhile many headsets dont even have Android 7 yet

That's because one of the main reasons we bought a Nexus phone is for timely updates.

They are timely updates, it's been a couple of weeks. People have zero patience. Sept 1 rolls over, and it's 0000 on the clock and people are mashing the update button.

Timely compared to what? We're a week from October. It has never taken this long and people are concerned that this is a byproduct of the beta program. I think these inquiries are valid at this point in the month.

Update - I tried a full factory reboot (power button, volume down button, then wipe data/factory reset) and I'm still on Android 7 :) NRD90T build.

Oh well, I'm happy enough I'll just go with the flow from here.

I would agree with this. I'm past my average of around the 16th getting my updated. Ill probably just start side loading OTAs. Probably the quickest way I'll get updates once I find the time for it.

I also enrolled in the beta and then un-enrolled. One thing I do like about Apple is the update and it's rolled out to everyone not in stages. Downside is that there could be issues since the server is working on overdrive to support all the Apple users.

Upgraded my 6P & 5X via beta program then unenrolled. My 5X received the Sept security patch last week. Nothing for the 6P.

I hope this info helps someone.

I enrolled in the beta in late July, and haven't unenrolled. I got the official 7.0 the first day it was available via OTA with the August patch included. I then got the September patch via OTA about a week ago.

This is what I am running:

Mines the same,90T Build Number but has the Sept 6th security update,UK owner on EE(TMobile).

Well, I really don't like this, but it would seem that once on beta, always on beta. I re-enrolled and instantly got what looks like, based on size, the Sept. security patch. I think this really sucks. Why on earth do they stop providing updates to phone that are no longer on the beta program? I'm betting that, though they didn't require a FDR after playing this trick to get the update, it may be required in order to get back on a regular update program.

Assuming FDR is a factory reset, the answer is 'no'. I enrolled in the beta program to get the 7.0 Nugent update, updated (with the August security patch) then unenrolled. I did a factory reset a few days ago and still don't have the September security patch. I'm not concerned about the September patch but I AM a bit frustrated that I don't have it. One of the reasons I sold my Galaxy Note Edge (wonderful phone) and bought the 6P was for the timely updates. If I'm not going to get timely updates, I could have kept the Edge and saved $600. (Or, I could have bought an iPhone.)

It's just a security patch, it's not something vital. It is timely in a sense that if you switch to any other phone you'll get a security update, just every 3 months or so, you still have a week left. I'm not surprised it's delayed this month, with Nougat dropping in the beginning they probably put the security update on the back burner.

I enrolled in the beta program a few months ago and got nougat, then unenrolled and have had nothing. Just enrolled again and I am now downloading the September patch.

That's exactly what I did... Not surprised if the only way to keep getting updates is to enroll again...

I got tired of waiting and just sideloaded the OTA, next month I probably won't even wait around I'll just sideload as soon as the OTA is posted. It's just so much easier and less stressful than waiting :p now that I think about it maybe that's what got me in this situation to begin with ;)
