Serendipity VII

Sometimes switching to a different/better modem helps.

ditto on that. after going to s7 i switched to the jk4 modem and it helped with alot of issues i was having. Even ones you wouldn't think were related to the modem.

Bricked! So I followed the directions here: Download - Serendipity VII Everything went smooth through step 6, odin completed successfully and gave me the green light and the phone rebooted (automatically) to the Galaxy S GT-i9000 screen and then....it did nothing else. stuck right there. I've tried 3 button fix to get it back into download mode, -yes removed battery, removed sim and sd card, plugged in USB with ODIN already started....nothing. When I hold the 3 buttons after some time the screen will flash black and then come back to the splash screen, I've tried releasing the power button when it goes black the first time, I've tried waiting until it goes black the second time to release power...pretty much everything. anyone have any suggestions on how to unbrick this thing?

If not - do you think AT&T will replace it like this? can I just tell them I turned it on and it was stuck on this screen?

Nevermind - I forgot to try the Remove battery insert battery, just hold volume buttons (not power) while inserting USB and that got it back to download mode.

2 questions:
1. how can I get a battery mod to display the percentage in the status bar (like in serendipity 6)
2. is there a way to get the overscroll glow back (without installing a theme like blue medley) i kinda miss it from the other ROMs :(

also, I installed the samsung music player app, and when I plug in my headphones, start to play a song, and lock the screen, the phone reboots... WHAT???

Flashed S7 a few days ago. Was on Fusion VII, which uses Voodoo lagfix. I disabled lagfix before flashing S7. I now see in the Voodoo Control app that the "lagfix status" is "lagfix RFS only - Compatibility mode, no Ext4 conversion." I have an option in the app to "allow lagfix code to convert partitions." Any reason why I shouldn't do this to allow the lagfix to fully function?

Edit: Went ahead w/lagfix. No problems. Ran Quadrant of 1582, up from 994. We'll see how it does in the real world.

I'm on S7 and I'm having terrible problems with the data connection. I see the data symbol, but the moment I open the market, it disappears. Then, the market says I have no data connection. Should I flash another modem?

If I cannot resolve this issue and I need to go back to stock, do I need to do anything special? I know this ROM came with different bootloaders...

Thanks,

-X

It is not uncommon for i9000 based ROMs to need to be more mindful of your modem. What is your baseband now? Historically, JK4 has worked well for me in the Midwest and areas I have traveled to. I am currently using KG3. It does seem that some locations work better with certain ones.
