Serious Lag, Erratic Behavior

I don't know what happened recently, but today I charged my phone while it was shut down, and when I turned it back on, something is very wrong. The media scanner will run, but it won't stop running. It has been running for 2 hours now and it's still running. The phone is god awful slow, like there is some serious lag going on with everything. Also, my radio no longer works. It says airplane mode is on, but I never turned it on to begin with. When i go to turn off airplane mode, nothing happens. As soon as the phone locks and I go to unlock the phone again, it says airplane mode is back on. Basically my phone is completely inoperable, and its not rooted. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull the battery, then hold the power button to discharge residual energy. Then boot and see. I am asuming it is an epic? Dont run task killers. It could be a faulty SD card, but if some simple trouble shooting dont work, and a hard reset if all else fails, take it in....

Yes it is an Epic. Never ran task killers, don't believe in them, haha. SD card is stock, so I can always test it with other things and see if it's faulty. Anyways, pulled the battery, but honestly forgot to hold down the power button during the process. Phone is running good again. Still a decently long media scan, but no 2 hours, more like 5 full minutes. Thank you for the help. Do you know what could have caused this issue? I recently installed a Seidio battery, but I would never assume that this battery would infect the OS like it did, any thoughts?

Try removing your SD card (what Media Scanner is scanning) - if your phone runs fine, you know that's the problem.
