serious light bleed / leak across entire bottom of screen

Hi,

Just got my G Pad 8.3 and noticed strong light bleeding across the bottom (in portrait) / right (in horizontal) edge. It's get worse the lower the brightness but is just about detectable all the way up to 100%. Anyone else notciced this? I feel this is something that warrants a return, or is it the norm? Photo below:



Also noticed the Auto Brightness seems too finicky - constantly adjusting up and down so I've disabled it now.

Mine does that too but I'm not fussed as it's not like I'm ever going to use it with backlight at 0%

0% brightness will strain your eyes.

For me it goes away at about 16% brightness. My normal usability is at around 40-43% brightness.

Hi crunchie-uk, I normally use it at about 50%. The 0% was just to show the effect as clearly as possible on the photo

Ok, thanks to all who replied - looks like it's going to have to be returned.

I will return it and hope the next one doesn't have this light bleeding...

Oh dear, faulty batch maybe. Thinking of going back to iPad - not sure I get on with an 8 inch form factor anyway.

I've only every owned an iPad 2 so I'm use to that extra screen estate. I may get use to the smaller size, it does have advantages, but I think personally I'd get on better with a larger screen. Portability isn't a big selling point for me.

Mine appears to no longer have it right now after turning it on unless I really look hard for it. ( looking diagonally down towards the charge side)

I wonder if it has something to do with that part of the screen being black when in portrait mode or only occurs after long screen on time/disappears over time

Also nnoticed that on my pad. But it's no reason to send it back for me. My pad is never on 0 % brightness. Up 20 % the light bleeds are noticeable.

I have it too, along with other light bleed and the blue line on the right. Quite disappointed. These definitely warrant a return right?
