seriously considering the S3, but.....battery life???

I have a Galaxy S3 and had heard about the potential for less than great batt life when I was waiting for the phone to be delivered, so I ordered one of those charge your phone and a spare batt at the same time thingeys and they gave me a slightly larger 2300mah batt with it, but like many have said the jelly bean update made it a lil worse, so I ordered one of those 4400mah Anker batts that also comes with a cover that fits tight, but good. I'm happy now. I have thought about maybe buying one of those godzilla 1000mah power packs and going back to the 2300mah, if the thickness and weight bothers me after heavy use. We will see...I'm still happy.

This is my first day with my s3. Unplugged it at 8am and it died 12 hours later. Used it a LOT especially since it's day 1. My iphone lasted the same amount, so I'm happy.

yeah, first day usage is always a drain. I'm actually taking two days off from work after the day of my upgrade so I can get all of that out of my system. how's your battery life since then?

Today is my first full day with the S3 and so far it's like any other smart phone the battery life is horrible Imo!

My second day with the S3 and I now know why they make the spare battery and charger combo! It's a great device but for a heavy user the second battery is needed Imo!

First few days are always going to be a burden on the battery...give it time. I do have a spare that I carry around, but rarely do I need it. I can generally make it a full day (unplug in morning, plug in at bedtime) on a single charge. Granted, on many days I will top it off at some point during the day, especially on work days, but I know I've made it full days on a charge. Battery will last considerably longer if you can connect to wifi rather than use 4G.

I am coming from a Thunderbolt, so I am loving the Battery life. I am never far from a charger but just for fun, I went from the time I got out of bed till the time I went back to bed without charging (something like 6am to 9pm or so) . This was an average day. 1/2 a dozen calls. A couple hours of Pandora, and random emails and etc... And still plenty of battery left.

Really good. Good standby time too. I can even leave my sync on. I'm still on it all the time lol. The only thing I liked about iphones was the great battery life, but now I've found an android with battery life just as good. I bet if I rooted with a custom rom and kernal it would be amazing.

If you just follow battery saving tips and tweak your settings and disable what boatware you're able to you will get great battery life. My s3 gets about 15 hrs and I browse on the Internet around 6 hrs each charge, play games and text a great deal.

despite what "common sense" would dictate, my finances overrules any smartphone choice.I'm less than 80 days from upgrading, and the S3 is my choice. I'm going with the extra battery lifestyle, just in case, but from what I'm reading here and researching elsewhere, I will need it every blue moon. at my primary job, I have access to charging at my desk, I have a charger in my truck, and I'm at Wal-mart for 5 hours a night (no charger access). my biggest concern is being away from all electricity for long amounts of time, which is why I'm going extra battery. now, coming from the Tbolt and rezound, I may be paranoid, but those of you who've had these devices, you understand.

I am never more than 50 feet from my Galaxy S III. When I got the phone last year on July 10 (which was on stock Ice Cream Sandwich) and conditioned the battery after a week or so, I averaged between 17-20 hours with moderate use. I am a sports nut and always checking on scores and stats and my video game news so I am on it a lot.

Since the phone has gotten 2 JellyBean updates, the battery life has diminished a tad, maybe losing a hour of battery life on average. But I always have my charger with me just in case. I still get about 16-19 hours on average now. Sometimes, depending on signal, I'll get 14 hours. I love this phone. Coming from the OG Droid Incredible, the battery life is much better on the GSIII, maybe a 20% difference. You will enjoy this beast of a phone.
