You need to run those numbers a little more carefully. That $99 moto x on contract is costing you a lot more than $99.

Don't worry, you've got about a year and a half before it gets a desperate as crackberry over here. Please, please, please don't turn this website into "crackberry". Please stop asking "when". It will get here, when it gets here. People kept asking about BB10, for months and months, and when it finally came, a lot of people weren't happy with it.![]()
I know this is rumor stuff. but I have a feeling when the N5 does arrive many of us including myself will be disappointed when they ask for $400-500 or even more.
Offering last years N4 and turning on the LTE that the phone had in the first place and charging $300-400. Is seriously shady. I personally do not plan on leaving my carrier anytime soon so if N5 is carried in the play store only & has some insane pricing, I would rather get a $99 Moto X or $289 Note 3 on contract.

Exactly! I can't believe so many people say they pay "only $99" for the iPhone 5c, for instance... More like several hundred dollars at the end of the two year contract!
For me, it is a no brainer... Save the money and buy out of contract when you can afford it, it's way cheaper and keeps you free and with all options open.

Take a second... look down at the phone in your hand. Whatever it may be. For me, its a Galaxy Nexus.
Remember feeling the same way about that phone. Thats right...the phone that now sits on your desk covered in fingerprints and scratches. Remember how bad you wanted the box to get to your door...how you sat and fiddled with every setting. Now realize how bored you are with it.
Take a second and realize that the N5 isn't going to be much different. Sure it'll be running 4.4. But the N5 isn't going to be the giant leap that occurred when ICS came out.
Take a deep breath and realize that within a few days the novelty will be gone and you'll be just as bored with the N5. So stop wasting your life worrying about when it'll be here.
How is it cheaper? My plan price does not change at the end of 24 months. It has been the same pretty much since my first iPhone 2G, it did not change at all when I scooped up a Galaxy Skyrocket. I am also grandfathered in At&t unlimited. I buy $400 N5 and I will be paying the same monthly plan price if I bought $99 Moto X.
This is why I expect more of a press release type announcement than some big event. From what I've read, it sounds like to me both Kit Kat and the N5 are not going to be hugely different from the consumer perspective than 4.3 and the N4. Having watched Apple go through 2 events now where people are like 'Really? A whole big event for that?' I'm hoping that Google errs on the side of caution. However, if what I'm reading isn't correct and there are big changes - say, always listening, 13MP with OIS and awesome pics - or other things that average consumers can glom onto and say WOW!, then they should do a big shindig. It's just not what I'm expecting right now.
At least 2 weeks out... I'd imagine an announcement including the Nexus 10 and Nexus 5 with at least a 2 week window until availability. Definitely before Black Friday.
Solid point! My excitement comes from leaving Verizon and paying $148 a month WITH a 22% discount through my job for 2 lines. And moving to T mobile for 2/3 that price for unlimited everything for the same 2 lines.
They waited to long to Announce and release this thing, i honestly lost interest and don't even care anymore.
Absolutely! I would prefer it to be the same size as the 4, but slightly larger will still work for me, and it MUST have 4G LTE, and at least,16GB.![]()
