My daughter's laptop is a Lenovo Tab E7 7 running Android 8.1, as far as I can tell it has 32-bit architecture if that's relevant.

We have a standard gmail set up in it via google family.

She has got a school email address which they use for google apps, When I try and add this second google account, I get the message, There was a problem communicating with Google servers, try again later. This has happened over multiple days when there's a solid wi-fi connection.

I found old posts about this being an issue, e.g. https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...ogle-servers-try-again-later-galaxy-s3-2.html which suggests fixing via rooting or installing Google play services from an apk mirror. People having the issue responded to this thread between 14-16 mostly.

In the current school at home covid-19 era IO would very much appreciate help getting this sorted so she can connect with teachers for school work.

Your not running any VPN?

No VPN on her tablet or no smart dns stuff on the router.

No problem adding the same google account on my Android 10 phone.

And if you were saying you didn't understand what I suggested, what I was thinking was to try a different wi-fi network when you try adding the Google account. It's a longshot, but maybe there's some odd security conflict between the tablet and your router.

You trying add a 2nd gmail account in gmail app?

I am trying to add a google account so my daughter can access google docs via her school email address. Her google account works on the school computers and she can login on her sisters computer in the browser. Are you saying that you can also add a google account to access google docs my just adding a gmail account?

Apologies, my comment was for @mustang7757 not you. I can maybe try and go into my work tonight when the building is empty and try the wi-fi there but it does seem like a long shot!

Yes you can this will automatically prompt you to use email and password and it creates 2nd Google account on the device.

I can confirm that yes, adding a new Gmail is the same as adding a new google account. Unfortunately, it also gives the exact same error:
Couldn't sign in
There was a problem communicating with Google servers
Try again later

Have you also tried adding the account while on a different wi-fi network?

I tried this last night. At my work I got a 4G signal on my phone and tethered off that, I then went through the add Google account steps and I got the same can't communicate with Google servers message.

When you say Google Family, are you saying she has a sub-account, such as parental control? Have you checked your permission settings for all accounts?
